Aconcagua 2006

Photos from Aconcagua (22,841'), the highest mountain in South America, in 2006 with Aventuras Patagonicas. We ascended to the top through the spectacular Guanacos Valley and descended the dismal normal route. This was my second trip to Aconcagua. I was on the Vacas Valley route with Alpine Ascents in 2003 but we turned back at 20k feet due to a storm.

Aconcagua SummitI know. Super Dork. If you don't hydrate enough and get a nasty headache, this stuff gets rid of it in 10 minutes. I gave out these little guys on a lot of mountains (Everest especially).
